His contribution led to $48 million saving in operational costs. Sustainable Enterprise Development and Commercialization of Environmentally Friendly Green Technology, Kenya - Funded by European Union
A Micro Enterprise Support Programme (MESP) with POEL Market Research, Human Resource Development, training and education, Kwetu Training Centre for Sustainable development is located on the Kenyan coast of Africa. The Kwetu Training Centre was created to educate unemployed youth for self employment. A POEL Consultant provided technical support and training that facilitated the development of innovative solutions leading to the self sustainability of rural communities, using available natural resources and appropriate technology. POEL carried out market research for products to be marketed locally and in tourist hotels – establishing eco tourism and as a bridge to developing the larger export market. POEL environmentally friendly technology resulted in effective Solar dryers produced at Kwetu. POEL brought Kwetu to collaborate with Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute (KIRDI) to commercialize the solar dried fruits and vegetables In order to ensure sustainability of the project POEL facilitated development of product standards an in conjunction with SGS created an effective accreditation systems for producers. www.thesustainablevillage.com/projects/kwetu.html
Strategy Formulation, Sustainable Community Development, Kenya - Funded by Philadelphia Arts and Education Partnership (PAEP)
Mara Fiki arts – an organization based in Kenya and USA in Collaboration with the Fabric Workshop and Museum (FWM) and POEL Developed strategies for an international program that provides tourist and cultural exchange opportunities for visitors from USA to Kenya. POEL consultants created opportunities to generate change through collaborative process, and to develop an educated Eco tourist client base of people yearning to visit Africa to bring real social and economic change. Developed a package that will be incorporated in the ‘Philadelphia Zoo trips to Africa’ and will provide economic benefits to the local communities in Africa, while maintaining ecosystem integrity. Curriculum for elementary, middle and high school teens according to the Pennsylvania Academic Standards that serves as a vehicle for learning and experiencing African art and Culture, self expression and collaboration among peers. Collaboration organised with Philadelphia Zoo Project.
